»Seven Billion Stories - Franziska Stünkel«

Opening: Friday, August 20, 2010, 7 p.m.
Opening remarks: Dr. Alexander Tolnay, former director of NBK Berlin

The filmmaker and screenwriter Franziska Stünkel has increasingly occupied herself with photography since 2006. Referencing the world’s population, she gathers her photographic works made in various cities in China, Europe and the United States together under the exhibition title SEVEN BILLION STORIES. Every one of the seven billion persons living on Earth has his own unmistakable story that is worth telling.
Franziska Stünkel understands her fragmented images taken showing the lives of people from diverse backgrounds as a part of this narrative process.
Furthermore, in her installation YOUR STORY centering on a photo booth, the artist who received the 2009 Audi Art Award gives the exhibition visitor the opportunity to add his own story to the SEVEN BILLION STORIES by means of a photographic self-portrait.
We are pleased with the cooperation with the Kestnergesellschaft where Franziska Stünkel’s project TELL ME THEIR STORIES will open on August 26, 2010 at 6 p.m.
